Ghoomer first look: Abhishek Bachchan, Saiyami Kher prepare to play ball

The first look of Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher from Ghoomer (2022) sees the artistes in intense preparation. The upcoming R Balki film features Kher as a professional cricket player while Bachchan plays her coach.

The actress opened up in an emotional note on Instagram about the role, which gave her a chance to play out her dreams. She wrote, “Every project I do it feels special, some feel extra special. All my life, I've dreamt of living the life of a professional cricketer. Ghoomer gave me that opportunity. As they say, when you really want something, the universe conspires to make it happen. This project taught me that.

Kher continued, “Captained by R Balki and shot by Vishal Sinha, Ghoomer was all about teamwork. This was a project with some of the nicest people I've met. This was a project that let me play a sport which I love. A project that let me play one of the most challenging roles I've played thus far; both emotionally and physically. It feels too good to be true.”

The role is a good fit for the actress who has played cricket at the school level for Maharashtra. She even made it to the national team but she opted for the badminton state championships instead.

Kher is also awaiting the release of Tahira Kashyap’s feature film Sharmaji Ki Beti and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary’s web-series Faadu. She and Bachchan are also set to reprise their roles in the second series of Breathe: Into The Shadows.  

Ghoomer, which is expected to be released later this year, also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi.
