Anima Pagare’s latest project Bhulan: The Maze (2022), directed by Manoj Verma, is now playing in select theatres. The actress, known for her work in the TV series Tere Mere Sapne and Ajeeb Dastaan, feels it’s a great time for quality cinema across India.
She shared, “I did television for over a decade, ever since I was a child. I decided to take the leap into cinema, because I liked the challenge. I am always up for a good challenge.”
Speaking about future projects, the actress said, “I am not in any race and don’t want to do things for the sake of it. There are two features I am currently considering, in addition to my writing commitments, which I am finishing.”
Asked about the sort of films she would like to be a part of, Pagare replied, “As a country, we are a land filled with amazing stories. Cinema is a medium that transcends boundaries, I would happily work in a Malayalam film as I would in a Hindi or Assamese film. I’d happily learn the language if the film excites me.”
Bhulan: The Maze was shot in a remote village in Chhattisgarh and the actress had to learn the language for the part. She recalled, “We were staying in the middle of a jungle in this beautiful village called Mahua Bhata and the locals there would help me with my lines and the correct pronunciation. While it was a challenge, it also was one of the most beautiful experiences for me and leaving there made my heart heavy.”
Also starring Omkar Das Manikpuri, Bhulan: The Maze won the National award for Best Feature Film in Chhattisgarhi.
