Actress Ramya Krishnan is currently busy shooting for the second season of upcoming web-series Queen. The MX player series is based on the life of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

Her co-star Sonia Aggarwal took to her Twitter page to share two behind-the-scenes stills from the shoot in which Ramya can be seen in a look very similar to what Jayalalithaa was mostly seen in over the years. The pictures have since gone viral on social media.

Queen (2019), directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan, saw Ramya Krishnan as Sakthi Seshadri – a character inspired from former chief minister and veteran actress Jayalalithaa.

The show categorizes Jayalalithaa’s life into three segments. It will focus on her life as a school-going girl, a teenager and the phase when she joined politics, taking over MG Ramachandran’s place after his demise.

Ramya started shooting for the project last month. Sharing two pictures from the sets, donning the look of her character from Queen, Ramya wrote: “Yes yes (sic).” She followed it up with praying emoji.

In the comments section, fans said they can’t wait for the second season.

One fan wrote: “Woahhh. Can’t wait for Queen – 2 (sic).”

Another fan said that nobody else apart from Ramya can play the character in the show.

A production of MX Player, the series is being jointly directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prasath Murugesan who earlier directed Kidari (2016).

Before the release of the first season, Gautham had mentioned in a media interaction that he wasn’t sure if Ramya Krishnan would be interested to be part of the project.

“It came through to me as the inspiring story of a woman who was forced to quit school, and went on to become successful in films, and later, in politics. I hoped Ramya Krishnan would accept the project, but was not sure if she would, as it’s a web-series, but the writing convinced her, I think,” he told The News Indian Express newspaper.
