Voot’s upcoming web-series Doon Kaand (2022), a revenge saga set in the heart of Uttarakhand, will be streamed for free from 20 June. The 10-episodes investigative suspense thriller will depict the cat-and-mouse game between the superintendent of police (SSP) of the state and a highly-influential drug lord, which takes a nasty, life-altering turn.
Helmed by first-time director Manoj Khade, the suspense thriller stars Iqbal Khan, Donal Bisht, Indraneil Sengupta, Karamveer Mehra and Nidhi Seth. Doon Kaand is produced by Vinay G Rai, Vijay Desai and Viral Pandya under the banners VR Motion Films, Sebhariya Pictures and Hetal Multimedia Films.
Doon Kaand’s screenplay has been written by Kaustav Biswas; the show has been shot by Rishang Mangaonkar across the picturesque locales of Dehradun.
The series follows inspector Arvind Rawat (Iqbal Khan) as he returns to Uttarakhand, along with his wife Tamanna (Donal Bisht) and daughter Muskaan, to head the state’s police force as the superintendent of police. However, his old nemesis Naresh (Indraneil Sengupta) is waiting in the wings to avenge his brother Paresh’s death. As Naresh abducts Tamanna and Muskaan as revenge, Rawat has to figure out a way to free his family before it’s too late.
Speaking about his latest lead role, Khan shared, “Portraying the character of a police officer is always challenging and inspiring. When the producers reached out to me to play the character of Arvind Rawat in Doon Kaand, I immediately signed up for it as the script and the plot of the show were compelling and captivating. This is my second outing with Voot, and the character of a police officer was clutter-breaking compared to the other OTT shows.”
Bisht added that her character Tamanna is a soft-hearted yet strong woman; the binding force of her family. She elaborated, “[Tamanna] is a nuanced character, and hence it was challenging yet very fulfilling to portray her character. Doon Kaand was shot across the scenic locales of Dehradun, Mussoorie which is an unusual aesthetic yet a refreshing take on presenting a gangster story. We’ve given our heart and soul to this web-series; it was great working with everyone, and I cannot wait for my fans to see me as Tamanna in Doon Kaand because this investigative suspense thriller also marks my digital debut!”
Sengupta, who plays the show’s antagonist, said, “It’s an intense character which comes with its own layers and I’m thrilled to be a part of this project. There’s ample suspense, action, and drama in this series, which will surely keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Since it will be available to stream for free, I hope the viewers don’t miss out on watching Doon Kaand exclusively on Voot!”
