Huma Qureshi has stepped into the shoes of cookbook author and top chef Tarla Dalal. The first look of the biopic, Tarla, created quite a stir among netizens.
Asked about her experience, Qureshi said, “The one thing I will remember the most from the shoot is when Tarlaji's children, who are now grandparents themselves, visited me on the set. They got emotional on seeing [parts of the film] and complimented me for doing the role with conviction. It was a surreal moment."
Qureshi says that for her it was important to nail the essence of Dalal’s persona. “As artists, the endeavour is to capture the vibe and charisma of the person. Little nuances like how she conducted herself and how she spoke on camera had to be woven into the performance."
The actress has apparently watched hours of footage to get Dalal’s accent and mannerisms right.
In the process, she also developed a great bond with her family. "They used to send food for me on the set. I must say their cheese platter was out of this world,” shared Qureshi, opining that Dalal’s children have inherited her culinary skills.
Qureshi was last seen in Valimai (2022) and OTT projects such as Maharani and Mithya. Qureshi will also be seen in the second season of Maharani.
