Posti song ‘Tun Meri Aan’: A romantic number elevated by Prabh Gill’s mellifluous voice

The feature examines the debilitating effects of drugs on the lives of people.

The Punjabi film Posti, written and directed by Rana Ranbir, is set to be released later this week on 17 June. Starring Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Babbal Rai, Surilie Gautam and the writer-filmmaker himself, the feature examines the debilitating effects of drugs on the lives of people.

The song ‘Tun Meri Aan’ sung by Prabh Gill, with music by Desi Routz and lyrics by Maninder Kailey, is a romantic song featuring Babbal Rai and Surilie Gautam. Gill’s mellifluous voice shines in the melodious number and is very suitable for the situation.

The couple romances each other in different locales in a small town. We see them in mustard fields, riding a motorcycle and visiting different picturesque sites. Rai's character is that of an educated man who finds it hard to get a suitable job in keeping with his qualifications. Gautam’s character is also seen holding up books, suggesting that she too is an educated woman. In a symbolic scene, the couple is seen circumambulating an elaborately prepared decoration of leaves, suggesting their desire to get married to each other.

Posti trailer: The stranglehold of drugs and its devastating impact

The film's trailer makes evident the dual impact of the lack of opportunities and the increasing hold of drugs amongst the youth. Posti will be the first big film from Punjab to release after the demise of singer-actor Sidhu Moosewala, which shook the entire state.
