It was clear from the trailers of Jugjugg Jeeyo that the film falls in the commercial caper genre and has a Punjabi flavour. After releasing ‘The Punjaabban Song’, the makers have now unveiled ‘Dupatta.’
The track is a typical dance number that takes place in a club. It is one of those numbers that are to be played at North Indian functions and weddings.
The eye-pleasing situational song features Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Maniesh Paul and Kiara Advani. There was much hubbub about Elnaaz Norouzi making an appearance in this song. Although this is true, she doesn’t get much screen time. We are given a slight hint that she is acting on Dhawan’s orders to trap Kapoor in some way. Neetu Kapoor, who plays Anil Kapoor’s wife, is the only star from the main cast not present in the song.
‘Dupatta’ is the remixed version of the Punjabi single ‘Dupatta Tera Sat Rang Da’, sung by Surjit Bindrakhia. Diesby’s vocals, in this version, aren’t great but they suit this kind of song. The same can be said about his music and reworked lyrics.
Directed by Raj Mehta, produced by Dharma Productions and distributed by Viacom18, Jugjugg Jeeyo will be released in theatres on 24 June.
