Actress Sanjana Sanghi, who was seen alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in Dil Bechara (2020), is now set to make her theatrical debut in Om: The Battle Within.
Sanghi said at the film’s trailer launch event, “I didn’t realize till Ahmed (Khan, the producer) sir told me. I called him up, saying I was really nervous and he told me that it was because it was my first film on the big screen. I was 13 when Rockstar (2021) came out and I remember the frenzy at that time but this just hits different and feels different. Om feels like a part of me. I can’t imagine it as a film. Whatever happens, it’s very personal. I hope that with all the blood and sweat we put in, the audience enjoys the film.”
The actress is also thrilled about the fact that she got to do action in the film, which in a way also came easy for her. She revealed, “My character Kavya doesn’t need a man to take care of her. But being a dancer, I could pick up choreography because when I used to train, I realized it’s a lot like dance choreography. Hence, it didn’t feel very new. It’s a lot about hand-eye coordination and timing, just like dance.
“What I did have to learn is, of course, hand-to-hand combat and some amount of weapon use because they were sure that Kavya had to fight. My dad’s a black belt in Karate and he made me throw some punches and kicks so thankfully, those came into play.”
The actress didn’t have to work much on her acting skills for this film. “With Rockstar, I stumbled into acting, when Imtiaz Ali saw me while I was doing a dance performance; but being a Delhi girl, I’ve spent my life on stage because we had a very vibrant theatre culture at Delhi University. About the acting part, I’m relatively confident because I’ve spent a lot of time honing it so, I had to concentrate more on the action in this film.”
