RRR (Hindi), Gangubai Kathiawadi, Jana Gana Mana, Jersey among Netflix’s global top 10 non-English films


While SS Rajamouli’s RRR (Hindi) is at top spot, Gangubai Kathiawadi holds steady at sixth and Jana Gana Mana and Jersey round off the Indian entries at numbers eight and nine.

Indian films continue to make inroads with audiences worldwide on Netflix. This week, three Indian features carry on their run on the streaming platform’s global top 10 non-English film list, while the Malayalam film Jana Gana Mana (2022) makes its debut at the eighth spot.

SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR (Hindi) is dominating at the top spot on Netflix for the second week in a row, while the period drama Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), starring Alia Bhatt, is holding steady at sixth. In its third week in the list, RRR (Hindi) has been viewed for nearly 14 million hours. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi, in its sixth week, has nearly three million views.

Speaking about a global audience discovering RRR, Rajamouli said, "Elated to see that the love from audiences around the world is still pouring in as RRR is roaring as the #1 non-English film globally on Netflix. The Malayalam vigilante action thriller Jana Gana Mana has 2.2 million views in its first week while the sports drama Jersey (2022), starring Shahid Kapoor, in its third week has 2.1 million views.

Jersey star Shahid Kapoor added, “Jersey is a special film and I am glad it found its home on Netflix. It’s great to see that audiences around the world are still watching the film and giving it all the love it deserves. Almost 20 days since launch and the film is still trending worldwide — I am so excited to see this overwhelming response.”
