Abhimanyu Dassani made his OTT debut last year in Meenakshi Sundareshwar opposite Sanya Malhotra, and the actor got accolades for his performance. While he was seen as a coy character who didn’t speak much in the film, it’s interesting to see him take a 360-degree turn now that he stars in a feature that will be premiered in theatres.
Meenakshi Sundareshwar review: Charming tale that falls by the wayside, sadly
The actor will be seen next in Nikamma, whose recently released trailer and songs have been well received. In a recent interview when Dassani was asked about getting into a 'massy' avatar, here’s what he had to say.
“Salman Bhai wanted me to do a commercial action film even before my first film was released, and that thought made me sign on for Nikamma,” said the actor.
Dassani added that he rushed to show the trailer of Nikamma to Khan, which the latter loved and shared on social media.
Nikamma is a remake of the 2017 Telugu action-comedy MCA Middle Class Abbayi, which starred Nani.
Produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Sabbir Khan Films, and directed by Sabbir Khan, Nikamma will hit the theatres on 17 June 2022. The film also stars Shilpa Shetty and will see Shirley Setia making her film debut.
