Akshay Kumar has bounced back from the disappointment of his previous film Samrat Prithviraj (2022) and is shooting for his next, an untitled film on mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, in the UK.

Gill saved the lives of 64 trapped miners at Raniganj Coalfields, West Bengal, in 1989. Produced by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment, shooting for the film is expected to be completed by next month in the UK.

The first look of Akshay Kumar as Gill was first shared by Variety.com in an online report. Donning a fake beard, glasses and a turban, the actor can be seen in the middle of a field on set.

Akshay has previously worked with director Desai on the period film Rustom (2016). He won the National award for Best Actor for his performance as a naval commander accused of murdering his wife’s lover.

The busy actor, who is awaiting the release of Raksha Bandhan (2022) and Ram Setu (2022), has five films in production, including this feature. He is working on another untitled feature with director Ranjit M Tewari, also produced by Pooja Entertainment, along with the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru (2020), Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi, and Oh My God 2 with Pankaj Tripathi.
