A while ago came the announcement that the popular 1990s television show Shaktimaan would be adapted into a film. Sony Pictures India is set to collaborate with Bheeshm International and Brewing Thoughts Private Limited on that.
Now, Brewing Thoughts Private Limited has acquired the rights to Captain Vyom, another cult serial that 1990s kids cherish. The series, created by Ketan Mehta, was telecast on Doordarshan's National channel in 1997-98 and starred Milind Soman and Kartika Rane.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the makers plan to turn this into a five-part franchise film and web-series. While the cast for the franchise and the director are yet to be decided, the makers are apparently thinking about some major A-listers to be a part of the project.

The first film of the franchise is set to go on the floors next year. Even in the 1990s, Captain Vyom was made on a higher budget than contemporary projects because of its heavy VFX work. The very thought of the likely scale of this project in today’s day and age is an exciting one.
