Ramdas Athawale, minister of state for social justice and empowerment, and Raju Shetti, former member of Parliament (MP) and chairperson of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana, will be making appearances in the upcoming Marathi movie Rashtra – Ek Ranbhumi.

The film, which has been in the making for a while, has an ensemble cast comprising Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Joshi, Rohini Hattangadi, Milind Gunaji, Sanjay Narvekar, Deepak Shirke, Ganesh Yadav and the late veteran actress Reema Lagoo. This might be the last release of the deceased actress.

Rashtra marks the debut of Inderpal Singh as a writer, director and editor. He has also provided the music in collaboration with Nikhil Kamath.

Although the basic storyline of the film is being kept under wraps, the makers have said that the film will “discuss the exact role of reservation in today’s advanced society.”

They have also said that the plot of the film will “awaken feelings of patriotism” in the audience.

Singh stated that while showing the true picture of Indian politics, the movie will compel people to begin debating about reservation. "In this way, the film is relevant to the life of every citizen,” he said.

Rashtra – Ek Ranbhumi will be released in theatres on 26 August.
