Directed by Amrinder Gill and written by Amberdeep Singh, the Punjabi feature Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya is a much-anticipated film. Not only does it mark the directorial debut of actor Amrinder Gill, but the unique story of the period drama and its impressive visuals are also something to look out for.

The film takes its title from the piercingly poignant folk song, ‘Challa’ which is a song of longing for one who does not return. Sung beautifully by Amrinder Gill with lyrics by Bir Singh and music by Lowkey, the reworking of the folk song as the title track of the film to suit the context of the film, is at once achingly sad but undeniably appealing.

The feature examines the lonesome and difficult journey of immigrants who leave their homes to work in a foreign land and captures their struggles.

Although the producers have not released visuals to accompany the title track, the moving song transports us to the period that the film is set in, capturing the emotions of the ones who travel to foreign lands, as well as those who are left behind and wait for them to return.

Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya also stars Sargun Mehta, Sydney Eberwein, Binnu Dhillon and Karamjit Anmol.
