If we were insecure, why would we collaborate with Hindi filmmakers, asks Kiccha Sudeepa

The actor says that one cannot make generalizations about and disregard an industry because some films don’t do well.

Actor Kiccha Sudeepa is set to make a mark with his pan-India film Vikrant Rona, which is larger-than-life in terms of treatment. The Hindi version of the film is being presented by Salman Khan Films (SKF) and the actor is quite grateful for this.

“I’m overwhelmed with the response. With SKF coming in, it’s like an elephant step. When we try to stretch our boundaries we all need that one hand that can hold us and he’s been that for me. The fact that there is so much hype looking at the trailer is good. Sometimes you make a good film, but you can’t reach out but the fact that we can reach out far with SKF coming in is the best part.”

The actor was also asked his thoughts on most films from the South faring better than their Hindi counterparts. He replied that many films are made every year and a couple of films do well but some don’t. "If the Hindi film industry wasn’t doing well, how would you sustain it for so many years? It’s just a matter of [cricketer] Virat Kohli not being in form for a match or two. So, would you take away his records from him? No, it doesn’t work that way. Even in the South, a lot of films don’t work. In Hollywood, they release 15 to 20 films over here in India but what happens to the other 185 films they make? So, you cannot generalize," the actor said.

Sudeepa also stated that there’s no animosity or competition between both industries. “If there was insecurity in our minds, then why would we collaborate with the Hindi film industry and vice versa? Why would a star like Salman Khan support us? Why would Jacqueline come and do a song for us? Right now, sir is going to Hyderabad and doing a prime role in a film there. Why would he go there and do that? None of us is insecure. It’s a beautiful thing to collaborate and exchange ideas. It’s a beautiful atmosphere, which is not visible to outsiders,” said the actor.

Vikrant Rona, which has been directed by Anup Bhandari, is set to be released on 28 July.
