R Madhavan, who recently made his directorial debut with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022), came together with Additya Kashyap of Cinedubs to promote the mobile app that breaks language barriers in theatres.
Madhavan is the brand ambassador of the mobile app, which enables viewers to listen to the film in their favourite tongue on their smartphones regardless of the language in which the film is being screened in the theatre. Cinedubs was launched on 22 July in Mumbai.
Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, was the first movie that Cinedubs catered to, and now the app will let users watch Vikrant Rona (2022), starring Kichcha Sudeep, in one of the five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and the original Kannada.
When asked which Hindi movie he would like to see in his own language, "I would want to watch Sholay (1975) in Tamil and would want people to watch Nayakan (1987) in Hindi,”
“Sometimes when you are watching a film, a lot of time is spent on reading the subtitles and because of that, you don’t get to enjoy the performance. This app will change that.” Madhavan added.
Madhavan joked when asked if he would like to direct again, “It can sometimes take a director more than a year and a half to recoup their investment in a movie. I, therefore, consider limiting my career to acting for a while.”
Meanwhile, on the acting front, Madhavan will be seen in Dhokha Round D Corner (2022) and Yash Raj Film's web-series The Railway Men, where he will be seen alongside Kay Kay Menon and Divyenndu Sharma.
