R Madhavan's directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, recorded a poor opening as well, leaving the field open to last week's release Jugjugg Jeeyo.

Friday saw the release of two very different films. Rashtra Kavach Om, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjana Sanghi, is a power-packed actioner while Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is based on the life of scientist S Nambi Narayanan.
Unfortunately, neither has made a mark at the box office on opening day. Om made a total collection of about Rs1.4 crore nett according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film is said to have done fairly well in the mass market with the action attracting audiences in territories like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but that has not helped its collections because these are also low-priced centres.
Rocketry, on the other hand, is a bilingual film which was expected to do better in Tamil Nadu, but that does not seem to have happened. The Hindi version recorded a meagre collection of Rs65 lakh nett on the first day, which is still better than the opening received by some other Tamil films dubbed in Hindi like Valimai (2022), Beast (2022) and Vikram (2022).
Jugjugg Jeeyo has benefited from this state of affairs with the Varun Dhawan- and Anil Kapoor-starrer remaining the first choice of moviegoers. Here’s what trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
#JugJuggJeeyo remains the first choice of moviegoers, despite two [new] prominent films taking away a chunk of its screens and shows... Biz should escalate on [second] Sat and Sun, given the trend... [Week 2] Fri 3.03 cr. Total: ₹ 56.69 cr. #India biz. pic.twitter.com/EN07svMssM

Clearly, the Dharma Productions film will continue to do good business despite the newer releases.
