After a poor first weekend of Rs1.65 crore nett, not much was expected from the Taapsee Pannu-starrer Shabaash Mithu (2022) on its first Monday. But the Srijit Mukherji film has performed much lower than expected by raking in as less as Rs15 lakh yesterday, as per figures shared by the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The grand total of the film, a biopic on the former Indian cricket team captain Mithali Raj, stands at only Rs1.80 crore till now. As per our trade sources, the film is made at a budget of only Rs25-30 crore. But going by its current condition, the number of its cost of production looks huge right now.
In fact, Shabaash Mithu’s performance is similar to the earlier dud of the year Dhaakad (2022), with Kangana Ranaut in the lead. That film struggled to reach even Rs3 crore in its first week and it seems that the Taapsee-starrer is headed for a similar fate. The main difference is that Dhaakad was made at a huge cost of Rs70 crore.
Meanwhile, the Rajkummar Rao-starrer HIT: The First Case (2022) is also having a bad run at the box office, although its performance is much better than Shabaash Mithu. After making only Rs65 lakh yesterday, the film has so far earned a total of Rs6 crore in its first four days.
