Box office: Shabaash Mithu, HIT: The First Case bomb

Meanwhile, the advance booking of this Friday’s release, Shamshera, looks promising.

Last Friday saw the release of Shabaash Mithu and HIT: The First Case and both films had a very low opening. The latter, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, clocked in a total of Rs5.59 crore, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The collections of Taapsee Pannu-starrer Shabaash Mithu are even lower. The film fared pretty badly on Saturday as well and earned about Rs1 crore nett in its first two days, according to BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Both films received mixed reviews and have done better among the multiplex-going audience. Unfortunately, they can't be considered anything but box-office duds.

Meanwhile, the absence of competition in theatres has benefitted Jugjugg Jeeyo. At the end of its fourth weekend, the multi-starrer managed to mint Rs78 crore nett.

The Hollywood film Thor: Love And Thunder is also doing well at the moment. The film managed to make Rs89 crore nett and is on its way to entering the Rs100 crore club.

Interestingly, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Shamshera, which is set to be released this Friday, is seeing good advance bookings. As per BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has got a decent early response and could turn out to have the best opening of 2022 so far for an original Hindi movie.
