Punjabi feature Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya, which has been directed by Amrinder Gill and written by Amberdeep Singh, is all set to be released in theatres on 29 July.
Amberdeep Singh is well-known for writing the biggest blockbuster hit so far this year, Saunkan Saunkne (2022). Aside from this, the writer-actor-director has written several films with interesting concepts, so one looks forward to the upcoming Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya.
The teaser of the film tells us that this is a period drama, possibly set at the time when India was still a colonized nation. The voiceover informs us that the story is of Punjab, a land where mothers either got martyrs or foreigners, never their sons. A line reads that the film is about people who extended themselves to others, without a care for their own well-being.
We see horse-drawn carriages in Punjab interspersed with scenes of Sikhs helping out wounded and sick people. The setting seems like the film may be about Sikh soldiers working for colonial masters. The cinematography and colourization are commendable and lend authenticity to the scenes, which almost blend with archival footage of the time.
Presented by Rhythm Boyz Entertainment and Amberdeep Films, the film stars Gill as well.
