Tara Sutaria to play lead role in Apurva

Tara Sutaria has bagged her first titular role. She will star in the upcoming movie Apurva. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and produced by Star Studios and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, the film has been described by its makers as an ‘edge-of-the-seat’ thriller.

Sharing her happiness at bagging the film, Sutaria said in a statement, “I couldn’t have asked for a better script and as a young woman, it makes me proud to be able to play Apurva. This is a story of a girl whose grit and inner strength are remarkable, and I’m thrilled to begin my journey in portraying a young woman whose intelligence, wit and courage are the reasons she survives against all odds.”

Sutaria will next be seen in Ek Villain Returns (2022), which also stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor and Disha Patani. 

Khetani said that he instantly agreed to back the film after listening to the script. “When I heard Apurva, I instantly knew that this story needs to reach the audience. Tara, I believe, is extremely talented and it will be exciting to present her in this thriller ably helmed by Nikhil Bhat. It’s been great collaborating with Star Studios and the entire team to bring this story onscreen.”

Bhat has helmed projects like Brij Mohan Amar Rahe (2018), The Gone Game (Season 1, 2020), Rasbhari (2020) and Hurdang (2022).

“I appreciate the faith put in me by Murad Bhai for loving the script from the get-go and to being given the opportunity to direct such a unique story,” he said. “It is a script that will totally enthral viewers. I’m looking forward to collaborating with Star Studios and eagerly looking forward to the entire process!” 

The makers have stated that Apurva will go on the floors soon.
