Shabaash Mithu review: A brilliantly performed sports drama that could have been more nuanced
As per trade sources, Shabaash Mithu was made on a budget of Rs25 to Rs30 crore. With such a dismal opening, the film has no chance of reaching that number even if it doubles its collections on Saturday and Sunday.
HIT: The First Case, the other release of this week, has fared better but the opening is still low. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, the film opened with only Rs1.15 crore.
HIT: The First Case review – Long-winded investigative thriller that leaves no mark
Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film was made on a budget of Rs30 crore. It needs a massive boost over the rest of the weekend to do respectably. The film is the official Hindi remake of the 2020 Tamil film of the same name by the same director.
Meanwhile, after finishing its first week with an impressive Rs80.25 crore, the Hollywood movie Thor: Love And Thunder made a decent Rs2.25 crore on its second Friday at the Indian box office. The film hasn’t amassed as much as one would expect from a Marvel movie but it has performed way better than many of the Hindi films released this year.
