Filmmaker Ravi Jadhav came up with a sequel to his 2014 hit Timepass in 2015. The first film told the love story of two adolescents, Dagadu and Prajakta, played by Prathamesh Parab and Ketaki Mategaonkar. Timepass 2 showed the grown-up versions of the characters, who were played by Priyadarshan Jadhav and Priya Bapat.
So, it’s surprising to see that Timepass 3, the third film in the franchise, also continues Dagadu’s story.
Timepass 3 stars Parab once again as Dagadu, who is now a college student and continues his mischievous ways. This time he falls for a beautiful fellow student (Hruta Durgule). She is a brave and short-tempered girl. These qualities come naturally to her since her father (Sanjay Narvekar) is a dreaded gangster.
The trailer makes it amply clear that Timepass 3 is an out-and-out masala entertainer with lots of humour. The story about Dagadu falling for the daughter of a don seems to be exploited well. The one problematic area is the racism in the scene where Dagadu answers a question in the class.
Parab is made to do what he knows the best. He has played such characters quite a few times in the past. But it is good to see him finally come out of the sex comedy zone. Narvekar too has played such characters before but he succeeds in being hilarious. Durgule has gone completely against her girl-next-door image and seems to have succeeded in it.
Produced by Athaansh Communication and Zee Studios, Timepass 3 will be released in theatres on 29 July.
