Pan Nalin’s Chhello Show wins audience award at London Indian Film Festival

Pan Nalin’s semi-autobiographical Gujarati feature Chhello Show (Last Film Show) has won the audience award at The Blue Orchid Hotels London Indian Film Festival. The event was held in London from 23 June to 8 July and also travelled to Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

As reported by Variety.com, other winners at the festival include Jaagran, co-directed by Ritviq Joshi and Hardik Sadhwani, which won the LIFF Jury Prize in the Satyajit Ray short film category. As quoted by the website, the jury awarded the film for its “engaging, relatable and witty exploration of a serious issue everyone can identify with.”
In addition, they found the film to be “socially and politically astute, brilliantly acted and hilariously funny.”
Filmmaker and actress Nandita Das and director Aparna Sen were presented with the Icon Award, while artistes Taapsee Pannu and Konkona Sensharma received outstanding achievement awards at the festival.
The opening night of the festival saw the screening of Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa while the closing film was the Canadian basketball film Super-Fan: Nav Bhatia.
