John Abraham has begun shooting for his next thriller, Tehran. Inspired by true events, the action film marks the first collaboration between John and producer Dinesh Vijan.

Dinesh's production banner, Maddock Films, shared the first-look video of John on YouTube. The video sees the actor in an intense and stoic avatar.

Written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma, the thriller marks the feature directorial debut of ad filmmaker Arun Gopalan. The makers have kept the details about the film's plot and the rest of the cast under wraps for the time being. It will be interesting to find out on which true incident this film is based.

The makers of Tehran had earlier announced that the film would be released on Republic Day 2023, but they will have to choose another weekend to avoid a clash with the highly anticipated Pathaan, which also stars John as well as Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Apart from Tehran, the actor is also looking forward to the release of Mohit Suri's Ek Villain Returns, where he will be seen sharing screen space with Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria. The film is slated to be released in theatres on 29 July,
