Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa had its world premiere at the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) on 23 June. The film is now all set to have its North American premiere at the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival (FIFF) in Montreal.
The festival will be held from 14 July to 3 August. The film, which stars Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati, will be screened on 31 July.
The LIFF website's entry on Dobaaraa reads, “Jolts of high-voltage tension crackle along the lines between past and present, right and wrong, science and the supernatural in Dobaaraa, the time-twisting new thriller from Anurag Kashyap. The absorbing, convincing Dobaaraa jumpstarts the thrills with a twist of science fiction, but the high-stakes drama keeps its feet on firm ground, staked in place by the gripping, driven lead performance from Taapsee Pannu.”
This is the second time that Pannu and Gulati are playing a couple after the latter’s first feature film Thappad (2020), which was directed by Anubhav Sinha.
Arati Kadav’s short film Astronaut And His Parrot, which stars Ali Fazal, will also be screened at the festival in the competition section. The film was also screened at the LIFF this year along with Sci-Fi London Festival 2022.
