Voot is set to launch a social drama series titled Jholachhap. Created and directed by Jyotiprakash, the show will highlight the health crisis in rural India.
A young doctor Neha (Mehak Manwani) is posted in a village where an unexpected series of events occur.
Talking about her character, Manwani said, “I feel that raising awareness about enhancing the healthcare system in rural India has become the need of the hour, especially in the current testing times. With Jholachhap, we aim to do exactly that but in an entertaining way! It’s an interesting story of a highly ambitious doctor who aims to bring about a change in the system with her service and the evils of society who attempt to plot obstacles at each stage of her journey.”
The series will span six episodes and also stars Prabhakar Sharma, Shalini Mishra, Madanlal Azad, Jaspal Kaur and Chandan Mehta in supporting roles. Chittaranjan Tripathy plays the antagonist.
He said, “As Jitender, I played the antagonist in Jholachhap whose prime objective is to ensure that Dr Neha gets banished from the village in order to benefit personally. This web-series is a pure entertainer and includes comedy and drama, complemented by an underlying social message. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the star cast of the series, and I’m super pumped for the show!”
The release date of the series is yet to be announced.
