Padma Shri Kaur Singh trailer: The life and times of an extraordinary man

Directed by Vikram Pradhan, the Punjabi-language feature will be released on 22 July.

Indian boxing champion, soldier and farmer Kaur Singh’s life has been truly remarkable. The Sangrur native, who won the heavyweight boxing gold medal at the 1982 Asian Games and received the Padma Shri and Arjuna Award, even faced the legendary Muhammad Ali in an exhibition match in 1980.

Directed by Vikram Pradhan, the Punjabi-language feature stars Karam Batth, Prabh Grewal, Raj Kakra, Malkeet Rauni and Sukhi Chahal and is produced by Karam Batth and Vicky Mann. The trailer takes us through the life and times of Kaur Singh, who decides to join the army only because he's in love with a woman whose family woul only accept a proposal from an army man. 

Although he becomes a soldier to fulfil the condition of his future in-laws, he discovers the world of boxing while being in the army and decides to prove himself. Hereon, his life takes a different direction as he starts to focus on the sport and finds new meaning in life.

The trailer emphasizes Singh’s strength while showing glimpses of the simple village life that he is a part of. We see his transformation into a champion.

Padma Shri Kaur Singh will be released on 22 July.
