RK/RKay trailer: Rajat Kapoor’s quirky comedy grabs your interest

It is not often that the premise of a Hindi film instantly gets you excited. That’s not the only positive aspect about RK/RKay. The film’s quirky trailer is also one of the most interesting ones you will see in a long time. 

An actor-director, played by Rajat Kapoor, makes a period film where he plays the character of Mehboob. Ranvir Shorey and Mallika Sherawat are his co-stars. There is a scene in the film where Kapoor’s character is chased by Shorey’s and the former gets shot at by the latter. 

While the fictional film is being edited, something weird happens and the character of Mehboob comes out of the movie and enters the real world. Plus, the character disappears from the film’s print. Kapoor’s character, in real life, is shocked and puzzled and so are others. They start hunting for Mehboob and also take the help of the police. What exactly is the motive of Mehboob and how did he emerge from the film?

The story of RK/RKay can be called mindless but the trailer makes it clear that the film is certainly not treated in that way. In fact, the content is sensible and this is what makes the film so promising. It would be interesting to see how the story concludes and whether it has a subtle message in the end. 

The performances of Kapoor, Shorey and Manu Rishi Chadha appear promising.
