The Hindi version of 83 (2021), directed by Kabir Khan, still has a chance at earning Rs100 crore nett in the coming week, but only if it manages to hold steady against competitors Pushpa: The Rise (2021) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the Ranveer Singh-starrer collected around Rs90 lakh nett on its third Friday, taking its domestic total to Rs92.6 crore nett.
The real-life sports drama, which is based on India’s maiden cricket World Cup victory, has seen a sharp drop in terms of earnings since it was premiered on 24 December 2021. It needs to make more than Rs1 crore daily this weekend and in the coming week in order to enter the Rs100 crore club.
Hot on its heels is the Allu Arjun-starrer whose Hindi version is also gunning for the club, despite its other versions being premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 7 January. The Telugu film has garnered huge interest for its Hindi dubbed version, which will be released on Netflix once it finishes its theatrical run. The Hindi version has earned Rs25.40 crore nett in its third week, according to the entertainment portal Koimoi, and has made over Rs72.4 crore nett so far.
The only hindrance to the films’ collections is the restrictions that have been imposed in several states due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.
The producers of Spider-Man: No Way Home have revealed that the Hollywood film's theatrical run will continue for at least two months. The blockbuster has already earned over Rs200 crore nett in India alone and is the first pandemic-era film to cross the $1 billion milestone at the global box office.
