Suresh Productions today revealed that it had acquired the rights to remake the Tamil hit Maanaadu (2021), a time-loop thriller starring Silambarasan and SJ Suryah, in all Indian languages.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanaadu is a simple story of a guy trying to prevent the assassination of the state’s chief minister. However, the only way to do so is by getting stuck in a time loop.
Suresh Productions took to Twitter to announce that it had acquired the remake rights. The company's statement added that it had also acquired the Telugu theatrical dubbing rights of the film.

Maanaadu, which is also a political thriller, marked the maiden collaboration of actor Silambarasan, formerly known as Simbu, and filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. The project, after being announced with much fanfare in 2018, was shelved a few months later after the actor fell out with producer Suresh Kamatchi.
When Silambarasan couldn’t make time as promised, Suresh dropped the idea of making the film with him. Thereafter, the director took to Twitter to share a heartfelt post. “It’s very unfortunate that I couldn’t work with my brother Simbu in Maanaadu. Everything is time bound. Considering the amount of emotional and financial pressure that the producer is going through, I have to respect the decision taken by the producer. Thanks for all the love,” Venkat Prabhu tweeted.
However, the project was back on track after three months and the team went on to complete it successfully. However, its release was postponed twice on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maanaadu also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren and Daniel Anne Pope. SJ Suryah’s performance as the antagonist is one of the film's highlights. The musis is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
