Actor Rana Daggubati has said that 2022 will be special because he will get to work with his uncle Venkatesh for the first time in Rana Naidu, the Indian adaptation of the American crime series Ray Donovan.
Talking about how excited he is about the collaboration, Rana said, in an interview with the Times of India newspaper, “Right from the time that I became an actor, I knew that at some point Venky and I would work together. I always knew that when we act together, it will not be in a conventional film — I wanted it to be different and cool. When I got the opportunity to do this web show, I knew this was it. It’s going to be special."
In September 2021, Rana announced on Twitter that he was joining hands with his uncle for the first time.
“Always wanted to share the screen with my uncle the VICTORY V, Venkatesh, and my dream is finally coming true. As much as I love him off screen, in “Rana Naidu” we are going to be at each other's throats. Rana Naidu, coming soon on Netflix (sic)," Rana wrote.

At the time, Rana said in a statement, "It is completely different from what both of us have done in our careers so far. I am extremely happy to work with a crew and a platform that knows this format the best. It will be new, challenging and fun. We are looking forward to filming soon."
Venkatesh had also expressed his excitement, saying, “I cannot wait to work with Rana. I am sure we will have a blast on the sets. I am a huge fan of Ray Donovan and the team is pulling out all the stops to ensure we do justice to it.”
Rana was last seen on screen in the multilingual film Haathi Mere Saathi, where he played a mahout. He is awaiting the release of the Telugu romantic period drama Virataparvam.
