Ishwak Singh, Aparshakti Khurana to star in spy thriller Berlin

Written and directed by Atul Sabharwal, the film is about a sign language expert caught between two rival intelligence agencies.

Ishwak Singh and Aparshakti Khurana have signed on for the upcoming film Berlin. Written and directed by Atul Sabharwal, the investigative thriller is about a sign language expert caught between two rival intelligence agencies.

According to a note from the makers, the story deals with the dark vortex of rivalry between intelligence agencies, deceit and corruption.

The film is set in the early 1990s and is expected to go on the floors this year. In a statement to the news agency Press Trust of India, Sabharwal said, "We have a great history of spy thriller films; this thriller drama weaves around the mute and deaf spy. Also, seeing Delhi city in the 1990s will be the first-of-its-kind visual interpretation while covering an exciting time in the history of the country. The team can't wait to bring the magic on screen (sic)."

Sabharwal previously helmed the Netflix thriller Class of 83 (2020), starring Bobby Deol, while Ishwak Singh is awaiting the release of Rocket Boys on SonyLIV, where he will play Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space programme. The actor was also part of the Amazon Prime series Paatal Lok (2020).

Berlin is being produced by Zee Studios as well as Sabharwal and Manav Shrivastav under the Yippee Ki Yay Motion Pictures banner.
