Coronavirus update: Ekta Kapoor tests positive for COVID-19 'despite precautions'

Producer Ekta Kapoor became the latest film personality to test positive for COVID-19 today. She confirmed the news with a post on social media, asking people who have come in contact with her to get tested and stay safe.

Kapoor wrote, "Despite taking all precautions I have tested Covid positive. I am fine and I request eveyone (sic) who has come in contact with me to test themselves."

Ekta Kapoor had posted pictures with her close friends, actress Neelam Kothari, producer Shabinaa Khan and Pooja Sippy, at a get-together recently.

She is the latest celebrity, following actor-producer John Abraham and his wife, Priya Runchal, to contract the contagion. The week has already seen actresses Nora Fatehi and Mrunal Thakur, and director Rahul Rawail testing positive.

The growing number of COVID-19 cases across the country has worried filmmakers and producers. The release of the Shahid Kapoor-led Jersey and SS Rajamouli's RRR have been postponed indefinitely and more may join the list.

Other film celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amrita Arora, Rhea Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor also tested positive last week.
