Ajay Devgn plays a brooding detective in Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness, an adaptation of the British psychological crime-drama television series Luther.

Dark and gritty, the trailer for the web-series touches upon the professional and personal life of the troubled detective.

Devgn plays the titular role of Rudra, a smart, brave detective who might be as messed up as the criminals he is after. He is intelligent, unafraid to break the rules and totally unapologetic about his temper. Apart from professional issues, he is going through a troubled marriage with Esha Deol's character.

It seems Raashii Khanna is playing the role of the psychotic killer portrayed in the original by Ruth Wilson. Her character is like the yang to Rudra's yin. Atul Kulkarni and Ashwini Kalsekar play Rudra's colleagues.

Devgn is apt as the brooding cop who engages in a treacherous game of cat-and-mouse with criminals. This role is a lot closer to the police officer he portrayed in the hard-hitting drama Gangaajal (2003) than in the Singham franchise.

Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, the six-episode series also stars Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi and Satyadeep Misra.

Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the series.
