Badhaai Do title song: Nakash Aziz's energic vocals fuel this wedding number

Composed by Tanishk Bagchi, the tune features fantastic lyrics by Vayu.

Often relegated to being the serious character, Rajkummar Rao has finally put his dancing skills to good use. The title track for Harshavardhan Kulkarni's Badhaai Do sees the actor vie for attention with his hyper-enthusiastic moves while celebrating his pseudo-wedding with Bhumi Pednekar's character from the film.

Composed by Tanishk Bagchi, the song kicks off the wedding celebration that is central to the film's plot. On a visual level, it has all the bells and whistles of a North Indian wedding, and all its skirmishes, disappointments and dances. Rao takes the lead as a groom with a case of jelly legs. The actor, who plays a gay man at a faux wedding, looks the part. Bhumi Pednekar plays the shy bride and doesn't disappoint. The choreography of this comedy of errors is a fun watch.

The foot-tapping composition is just as fun. Vocalist Nakash Aziz's energy fuels the song and heightens Bagchi's composition. Vayu's lyrics are a fantastic blend of mischief and snark. With its mix of Hindi and English, the track grows on your ears with each listen. Bagchi's arrangement of the subtle strings to contrast the beat make for a wonderful addition.

Badhaai Do has been produced by Junglee Pictures. The film will be released in theatres on 11 February 2022.
