Sameer Dharmadhikari and Smita Shewale are set to work together for the first time in Kalpesh Bhandarkar's upcoming Marathi film Chabuk.

The filmmaker, who is the younger brother of popular Hindi film director Madhur Bhandarkar, has worked as an assistant cameraman on numerous Hindi movies and he is making his directorial debut with this project.

Shewale shared the news on social media along with the film's first poster.

The filmmaker said, "A chabuk (whip) is used to guide a stray animal. Everyone thinks that what they are doing is right. And each person tries to convince the other that his opinion is correct. If the person in front does not agree with these opinions, it gives rise to disputes. The film shows us why it is important to introspect before doing anything. The film manages to entertain as well."

Written by Abhay Inamdar and Niranjan Patwardhan, Chabuk features Milind Shinde and Sudhir Gadgil. While the film's music has been composed by Vipin Patwa, the songs' lyrics have been written by Mandar Cholkar and Milind Shinde.

Backed by Kalpesh Bhandarkar's banner, Shrishti Motion Picture Company, Chabuk is scheduled to be released in theatres from 25 February. Dharmadhikari also plays the villain in the Marathi historical action drama Pawankhind, which will be out on 18 February.
