Danish Sait, who was recently seen as the titular leader in the satirical series Humble Politiciann Nograj (2022), shifts gears as a gentler character in the comedy One Cut Two Cut (2022),
The actor plays an embattled arts and crafts teacher, Gopi, whose students are taken hostage by four radical social media activists.
The earnest Gopi’s first day at the Byatarayanapura school ends up being much more than he bargained for as Prakash Belawadi’s character leads an unruly gang whose demands must be fulfilled. Gopi tries to defuse the situation and distract his students, but will he be able to fulfil the activists’ growing demands? And will the outside world take this hostage crisis seriously?
Directed by Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, One Cut Two Cut has been produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and Gurudath A Talwar. It also stars Samyukta Hornad, Vineeth ‘Beep’ Kumar and Sampath Maitreya.
The first-time filmmaker said that One Cut Two Cut is an attempt to make a comedy adventure thriller, which is a genre that hasn't been explored much. "It was exciting for Danish and me to collaborate with PRK Productions for this film as they always bring something fresh and unique for the audience. Danish’s antics as Gopi and the storyline will keep the audiences hooked. While I am excited about bringing this film on Amazon Prime Video for the global audience, I am forever grateful to Appu Sir [the late Puneeth Rajkumar] and Ashwini ma'am who helped make this dream a reality," he said.
Sait said, “After French Biryani (2020) and Humble Politician Nograj (2018), this is my third collaboration with Amazon Prime Video and I am really excited to extend my character sketch Gopi to a full-fledged film.
“This film also marks my second collaboration with PRK Productions and I have also worked with Vamsidhar in the past, so working with them again was like a homecoming for me.”
The actor added, “Gopi as a character has received much love and appreciation from the audience and in this film, the viewers will see him landing into a hostage situation and taking on social media activists in his own quirky and innocent style. Gopi deals with the situation while also addressing some pressing issues. I am sure the audience will have a good laugh and will also have something to think about.”
The Kannada film will be premiered online on 3 February on Amazon Prime Video.
