In the short film Verses Of War (2022), Vivek Oberoi plays an Indian soldier who says, “Ek fauji jab jeeta hai toh poori shiddat se jeeta hai, aur jab marta hai toh poori izzat se marta hai...". Also starring Rohit Bose Roy and Shivanii Rai, Verses Of War is being premiered on Republic Day tomorrow on FNP Media’s YouTube channel.
Oberoi’s character is also a poet and the actor said the short film is a project he will always be proud of. “Playing an Indian army officer was a longstanding dream for me and finally, with this film, I got to realize it," he said. "It has been an honour playing a soldier. Through this film I wish to pay tribute to all those brave men who make so many sacrifices to keep us safe. Verses Of War will always have a special place in my filmography.”
Meanwhile, Roy plays a Pakistani army officer. The two converse about war and peace in the short film.
Roy said, “Love for one’s nation is paramount for every soldier. But when you transcend boundaries for one’s respect and honour is when you feel sheer bliss and [contentment].”
Filmmaker Kadam, who has directed the short films Chuha Billi (2021) and Happy Birthday (2021), added, “I am very happy with the final outcome, as a film on the Indian army needed to be made with a certain amount of sensitivity, which I am sure is there.”
Verses Of War is produced and presented by FNP Media, Vikaas Gutgutia and Girish Johar and co-produced by Vivek Anand Oberoi and Oberoi Mega Entertainment.
Producer Gutgutia said, “At FNP Media, we want to tell stories which connect with audiences across the board. Verses Of War is our proud presentation, which we are sure will be embraced by all. It’s an honour to be releasing this on the occasion of our country’s Republic Day.”
Johar said, “Verses Of War is a poignant and impactful story. It’s a dedication from all of us at team FNP Media to all the brave soldiers across the world.”
