Directed by Nagesh Kukunooor, the Telugu sports drama is scheduled to hit screens on 28 January.

After 17 years Nagesh Kukunooor is returning to the sports drama genre with the upcoming Telugu feature Good Luck Sakhi. If in Kukunoor's first sports drama Iqbal (2005), the protagonist had to overcome a physical disability to become a cricketer, Sakhi (Keerthy Suresh) has to overcome her reputation to become a shooter. Everyone in the village calls her 'bad luck' Sakhi because they believe she brings them ill fortune.

The trailer begins with Jagapathi Babu's character opening a shooting academy to bring out the best shooters for the country. Despite the villagers opposing him, Aadhi Pinisetty recommends Sakhi's name to the coach who is stunned by her talent. But the villagers insist she only brings bad luck.

The rest of the story follows the ups and downs of Sakhi’s career and how she overcomes the initial poor competitive performances with the help of her coach and achieves the goal.

As always Keerthy Suresh is on point as the goofy, innocent young woman who is slowly transformed into a determined sportswoman. Just like in Shreyas Talpade's Iqbal, Kukunoor manages to give a certain quirkiness to Keerthy's character in his first Telugu feature even while dealing with serious problems in her life.

Produced by Sudheer Chandra Padiri and Shravya Varma, the film is set for a simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

The movie was slated to be released on 31 December 2021 but was postponed on account of rising COVID-19 cases. It will now arrive in theatres on 28 January. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the film.
