The film directed by Avinash Kolte also features veterans Upendra Limaye and Sayaji Shinde in pivotal but stereotypical roles.

Kamlesh Sawant has been playing supporting characters in Marathi films for almost two decades now. Over the years, he has got stereotyped in the role of a cop; mostly a corrupt one.
Sawant finally breaks away from his image in first-time director Avinash Kolte’s Faas (The Noose). He not only plays a different character, a down-on-his-luck farmer, but has also got the rare chance to play the lead.
The trailer for Faas, which is just out, does not give out any clues about the main plot. We just get to know that Sawant plays a hard-working farmer who struggles to lead a decent life with his wife (Pallavi Palkar) and child.
Tragedy strikes him, like it does many farmers in our country, but he is left to fend for himself by the authorities. Upendra Limaye plays a kind-hearted police officer who is deeply concerned about the plight of farmers but is unable to do much. Sayaji Shinde plays the stereotypical politician only interested in lining his pockets. The veteran artiste has played such a character times without number.
The makers appear to have tried too hard to evoke emotions in the viewer without caring for the flow of the trailer. It is loud and melodramatic but doesn't offer much clarity about the film's story.
Produced by MA Film Entertainment, Faas is slated for release in theatres on 4 February. The film will clash with three other Marathi movies, Panghrun, Lochya Zaala Re and Law Of Love.
