Excited about year ahead, says Applause Entertainment’s Sameer Nair on rapid release of three shows this month

The first month of 2022 is yet to end, but Applause Entertainment has released three series since New Year's Day — Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, Humble Politiciann Nograj and the second season of Bhaukaal — on Zee5, Voot Select and MX Player respectively. 

Speaking about the slew of releases, Sameer Nair, chief operating officer [CEO], Applause Entertainment, said in a statement, “We’re very happy with the way 2022 has begun for us and the anticipation that Bhaukaal (Season 2) has generated. This marks our 30th release and our seventh show to return for a second season. All of this is possible only because of my amazing team at Applause and our wonderful creative and business partners.”

He added, “Buoyed by the success of Kaun Banegi Shikharwati and Humble Politiciann Nograj and the potential of Bhaukaal (Season 2), we’re excited about our slate for the year ahead. Our aim is to continue making diverse content that breaks new ground and seeks to disrupt the status quo.”

The production house received a shot in the arm in 2020 with the success of Hansal Mehta’s Scam 1992, which is based on the life and times of the controversial stockbroker Harshad Mehta. It is set to depict the life of the former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao in a series directed by veteran filmmaker Prakash Jha titled Half Lion.
