Raajhorshee De’s upcoming film Abbar Kanchenjungha will be released in theatres on 1 April.

A few days ago, the director stated in a Facebook post that due to the rise in COVID cases in West Bengal, the team was forced to postpone the release of the film and the revised date would be announced soon.

The film was initially supposed to hit the screens on 11 February.

Music director Ashu Chakraborty took to Facebook to reveal the new date in a long post. According to Chakraborty, the film's message is that a strong family is built on mutual respect and joy. A tribute to Satyajit Ray, Abbar Kanchenjungha is set in Darjeeling.

Abbar Kanchenjungha has a huge ensemble cast, comprising Saswata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Rahul Banerjee, Bidipta Chakraborty, Tanushree Chakraborty and Arpita Chatterjee.

The film tells the story of the Deb family, whose members reunite on Christmas at their ancestral mansion in Darjeeling. Several conflicts surface as the four sons and one daughter of the late advocate Nisith Deb arrive with their respective families and a proposal to sell the house is brought up for discussion.
