Filmmaker Anup Jagdale announced the historical drama Ravrambha in March 2021. The film, which has been produced by Shashikant Sheela Bhausaheb Pawar, recently went on the floors in Karjat’s ND Studios. Ravrambha was supposed to be shot in April last year but its makers were hampered by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the film is set during the reign of Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it is primarily a love story between the titular Rav and Rambha, played by Om Bhutkar and Monalisa Bagal respectively. The film marks the artiste's first collaboration.

Bagal worked with Jagdale in Zhalla Bhobhata (2017). She will also star in the director's upcoming movie Karant. Jagdale also has Bhirkit and Bebhan in the pipeline.

Ravrambha, which also stars the veteran artiste Girish Kulkarni, is seasoned cinematographer Sanjay Jadhav's maiden historical film.

Renowned writer Pratap Gangavane, who has a penchant for historical fiction, has written the movie. He was the screenwriter of Hirkani (2019) and has two more historical dramas, Shivpratap Waghnakh and Shivputra Sambhaji, in the works.
