Mohit Takalkar's film Medium Spicy will be screened at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival on 16 January.

The film stars Sai Tamhankar, Lalit Prabhakar and Parna Pethe with veterans Neena Kulkarni and Ravindra Mankani featuring in key roles.

Announced in 2019, the film's release has been repeatedly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it has travelled to several festivals in the interim, including the Dallas/Fort Worth South Asian Film Festival and the Norway Bollywood Film Festival. The film was also selected as the closing film at the River To River Florence Indian Film Festival.

At Dhaka, the film will be screened in the Cinemas of the World section alongside the Malayalam film Nayattu (2021) and the unreleased Bengali horror film Kalkokkho.

Producer Vidhi Kasliwal of Landmarc Films said, “It is gratifying to see that our film has found its audiences around the globe. It is fulfilling to receive such positive feedback from diverse parts of the world; from America to Italy and Scandinavia to now Bangladesh."

She added, "While we were preparing to release Medium Spicy, the pandemic struck and the film got stuck. Luckily the festival journey has set things in motion and Medium Spicy has been growing from strength to strength. We hope audiences in India won’t have to wait long to watch it. For now, it is an honour to be screened at the 20th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival.”

Medium Spicy is a take on the complexity of modern love, relationships and conflicts. The film was initially scheduled for release on 5 June 2020.

The Dhaka festival will take place between 15 and 23 January 2022.
