In the trailer of Eros Now’s upcoming horror series Barun Rai and The House On The Cliff, Priyanshu Chatterjee’s parapsychologist character, detective Barun Rai, attempts to deal with tormented spirits that plague the fictional town of Covid’s Head.
When the town's police force fails to safeguard its citizens from paranormal threats, Rai takes it upon himself to build a bridge between the mortals and the spirits, who are apparently seeking vengeance over a love story that went wrong years ago.
Set in 1970, the six-episode series, directed by Sam Bhattacharjee, shows a couple named Soumili (Nyra Banerjee) and Harmesh (Siddharth Makkar) moving into an old house in Covid’s Head. It doesn’t take long for Soumili to realise that the house is haunted.
The couple eventually learns about a series of mysterious suicides that took place on the cliff on which the house stands. As the police find themselves to be as clueless and helpless as the townsfolk, the gifted Rai pledges to get to the bottom of things, and he also warns Soumili about the dangers of living in the house alone.
The long trailer is filled with spooky visuals of paranormal attacks on the living. Whether or not the name of the fictional town has anything to do with the ongoing pandemic will be revealed in the series.
Speaking about working in the series, Chatterjee said in a statement that he was looking forward to seeing Barun Rai contact the other world on Eros Now.
“I love the horror space and I am thrilled to be a part of this project. I must admit that Barun Rai and The House On The Cliff is a bit different from what we have seen before as it mixes elements of science with horror. We are so excited to see the reaction to this series and have such high expectations for audiences who are looking to enjoy a particularly dark and chilling psychological horror. We have a talented cast on screen and an equally talented team behind the production," the statement read.
Also starring British actors Tony Richardson, George Dawson and Emma Galliano, Barun Rai and The House on The Cliff will be streaming on Eros Now from 28 January.
