After announcing the launch of his home banner, Action Star Films, last year, Vidyut Jammwal revealed the title of its first production venture  IB 71. The movie, which stars Jammwal himself, went on the floors today.

Jammwal on Thursday tweeted a video with director Sankalp Reddy and captioned it, “It’s a new year for us and everyone at Action Hero Films! IB 71 our maiden film as actor-producer goes on floors. Salute to the intelligence officers of India who inspired it.”

As per the action star’s caption, the ‘IB’ in the title stands for Intelligence Bureau. In the video, he is seen conversing with Reddy. He later reveals that he and the filmmaker were playing chess in their minds because this is what intelligence officers do.

IB 71 is reportedly set in the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Interestingly, Reddy’s last Hindi film, The Ghazi Attack (2017), was also based on the conflict.

When the film was announced in July last year, Jammwal had shared a note that read, “Directed by Sankalp Reddy, the upcoming film is the banner’s first collaboration with the creative giant Reliance Entertainment. I write this with the utmost gratitude and sincerely to convey my love for your blessings and support. IB 71 is a step towards fulfilling the promise of quality filmmaking. This project is a result of teamwork and belief. I seek your support for it forever. Thank you for being a part of my journey. Wishing you the forward move you've hoped for.”
