Makers of Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha to remove ‘objectionable’ content from trailer

Their actions come in the wake of the National Commission for Women taking up the issue with the Union ministry of information and broadcasting.

The trailer of Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming Marathi crime thriller Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha has attracted a lot of attention because of its graphic nature.

Taking note of the promo, the National Commission for Women [NCW] yesterday wrote to the Union ministry of information and broadcasting, asking it to certify the trailer as it includes visuals of minors acting in an objectionable manner with women. The statutory body was acting on a complaint filed by the organization Bharatiya Stree Shakti [BSS].

In its complaint, the NCW stated, “The trailer is being circulated on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc, without any age restrictions for viewers and hence is available even for minors to watch.”

Following this, the makers have taken down the clip. A source close to the film told Cinestaan, “We have removed it temporarily as there have been objections to a few shots. We will make the necessary changes and share it again.”

This development hasn’t affected the release of Nay Varanbhaat Loncha Kon Nay Koncha. It will arrive in theatres, as planned, tomorrow. In fact, it was screened for the media yesterday.

The film stars Prem Dharmadhikari and Varad Nagwekar, who play amoral teenagers on the path of crime. The adult cast includes Chhaya Kadam, Shashank Shende, Kashmera Shah, Umesh Jagtap and Ganesh Yadav.
