Coronavirus update: Prosenjit Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee test positive for COVID-19

The actor and actress are currently recovering at home; director Srijit Mukherji, meanwhile, has recovered.

Artistes Prosenjit Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee have tested positive for COVID-19.

The actor took to Twitter to inform his fans that, after consulting his doctor, he was staying in isolation at home and hoping for a speedy recovery.

Mukherjee, on the other hand, put up a humorous post, stating whoever had not tested positive yet was detested by Yama, the god of death, and that, finally, she was not one of those people anymore. Then she wrote an imaginative exchange between the deity and herself.

The actress, who recently finished shooting for first-time filmmaker Abhijit Das’s Bijoyar Pore, had got tested on Tuesday. According to a report by Anandabazar Patrika, a Bengali daily, the actress is stable and recovering at home.

Director Srijit Mukherji, meanwhile, has tested negative. In a tweet, the director expressed his gratitude to both the well-wishers and the haters on social media.

Mukherji was among the numerous figures from the Bengali film industry such as actor Riddhi Sen, singer Iman Chakraborty and lyricist Nilanjan Ghosh, who have contracted the disease. The alarming spike in cases has prompted the West Bengal government to impose a slew of measures, including restricting theatre occupancy to 50%. It has also led to the indefinite postponement of the Kolkata International Film Festival.
