Mangeshkar had been hospitalized back in 2019 after being diagnosed with pneumonia. The lung ailment is a common after-effect of COVID-19.
When contacted by Cinestaan.com yesterday, the singer's publicist had confirmed that she was in good spirits and was in the ICU only as a precaution. News reports quoted the singer's niece, Rachana Shah, saying she was 'stable and alert'.
A recipient of the Dadsaheb Phalke award and the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, Lata Mangeshkar is considered one of the greatest singers in Indian cinema history. Her long career and multiple awards have brought her fame across generations.
